NANO 2016 promises to be a dynamic event filled with networking opportunities and technical presentations on production, characterization, applications and functionalization of renewable nanomaterials.
The 14th European Workshop on Lignocellulosics and Pulp (EWLP 2016) will be held in Autrans, close to Grenoble, France, on June 28-30, 2016.
EWLP 2016 will be followed by an IUFRO (International Union of Forest Research Organisations) workshop on Biorefinery on July 1st, 2016, with a common EWLP-IUFRO session on June 30 afternoon.
The conference will be held in Autrans in the heart of the Vercors mountain, one of the three mountain chains surrounding Grenoble. Grenoble can be easily reached via Geneva or Lyon St Exupéry airports. Shutlles will be organized from Grenoble to the place of the conference.
EWLP conference takes place every two years, and was initiated in 1990 in Hamburg.
It is one of the largest events in the field of lignocellulosics chemistry, characterization and use. The 2016 edition will cover the following topics :
Advances in the knowledge of lignocellulose structure
New analytical techniques for lignocellulose characterization
New developments in pulping and bleaching chemistry and processes
Lignin isolation, characterization and use for chemical and material applications
Cellulose production for textile and polymer applications
New cellulose products
Characterization and use of lignocellulose extractives
Hemicelluloses characterization and use
Lignocellulosics : a potential source of molecules and materials for medical applications
The three-day scientific programme will include keynote lectures, oral and poster presentations. Time will also be left for people to interact, and to discover the very nice landscapes and nature of Vercors.
We are pleased to invite you to follow our new research project, ILIQO, which concerns the conditions of integration for the valorisation of lignins of black liquors from pulp mills. The kick-off meeting was held on October 22nd, 2015. The minutes of this meeting are available upon request.
This two-year project will provide the following benefits:
Creation of an additional source of income for pulp mills thanks to the production and marketing of lignin from black liquors. The project will establish an identity card of lignins, one lignin will be sampled for each partner. With the diversification of its activities, mills should thus limit the influence of the economic risks related to the sectors of wood and pulp.
Extraction of part of the black liquor lignins may lead to an increase of the production capacity at the plant and maintaining the supply to the boiler and its performance. In case the produced lignin is used in the lime kiln instead of gas or fuel, the plant is expected to reduce its need for fossil energy. The technical and economic conditions of production and valorization of lignins will be established during the project, based on the data collected on two industrial mills studied, and through the pilot tests using a simulation tool (PS 2000). The main parameters for a successful integration of a lignin production line in an existing pulp mill will be than defined.
